SB 6514 Work Group Meeting (Open to the Public)

Colleges and other postsecondary institutions in Washington state will gain new, optional resources in behavioral health and suicide prevention through the provisions of Senate Bill 6514, which passed during the 2018 legislative session.

Our next meeting, open to the public, will be held on August 22  from  2 pm – 4 pm PT.

This meeting is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC via teleconference through Zoom.

The initiative includes three components:

  • A publicly available, online resource with trainings, crisis protocols, promotional materials and an annual conference.
  • A grant program, which will focus its first six selections on public institutions with high needs and low resources. Grants that offer enhanced services for veterans will have preference.
  • Data collection by campuses, in order to create a state baseline on the issues of suicide and mental health issues.

Forefront Suicide Prevention will lead this work, in consultation with a Work Group representing all sectors of postsecondary education. For more information on the Work Group and its members, click here.
