AMSR - Assessing & Managing Suicide Risk

AMSR - Assessing & Managing Suicide Risk

AMSR

AMSR - Assessing & Managing Suicide Risk - is a one-day workshop that is based on 24 core competencies and five clinical dilemmas.  The workshop is facilitated by a skilled clinician and incorporates a variety of learning techniques, including group discussion, expert teaching, video and paired role play practice.

The training is designed for behavioral health professionals who are working with persons at risk of suicide.  AMSR meets the legislative mandate of ESHB 2366 that was passed in 2012 and requires that licensed professionals receive 6 hours of training in the assessment, management and treatment of suicide risk every six years.

The workshop emphasizes a collaborative approach to suicide risk which involves accepting the client’s suffering while simultaneously conveying a commitment of healing and hope.  AMSR teaches clinicians to anchor suicide risk contextually, distinguishing between a person’s risk compared to others and also compared to his/her own history.  Workshop participants practice synthesizing that information into clinical formulations of risk that directly lead to plans and responses.
